The Magnetic Timeline in Final Cut Pro X is great and speeds up editing.
One downside is that you can't apply audio fades between two clips. Dragging the handles out on each clip is fiddly and tiresome. There has to be a better way.
There is, in this FCPX tutorial we show you how to apply audio fades to audio clips with one click.

You didn’t mention that you can click once between 2 adjacent audio clips and then do a Command-T to add a cross-fade. Very fast…use it all the time.

Very useful tip. Definately plan to use that method for audio fades

Thanks for the tutorial – good work! I did not know about this possibility.
While this workaround is a very helpful for Audio-work in FCPX, it solves only half the problem of creating Audio cross-fades. We still have to “expand audio” and add some handles to the Audio-clips to prevent a “moment of silent” on a cut. Now if there was a shortcut to add Audio-Fades AND extend the Audio-clip on the In- and Out-Point for around 12 frames – that would be great…

Excellent tip…assigning these keyboard shortcuts on my system as soon as I’m done typing this!
